Well, I found a copy of the ISO 639-2 DIS and typed in some of the
technical contents, including a table and some explanatory text.
It is available as ftp://dkuug.dk/i18n/iso-639-2-dis.txt
If you want the real standard, please order it from your 
national standardization body.
