Subject: Re: Proposed 2-letter script code standard

1. i suggest that, instead of making just 2-letter codes,
we make both 2-letter and 3-letter codes, as was done for country names.
Then leave it to users wheter to use 2- or 3-letter codes.

2. as i understand it, the airline codes are not ISO std (please correct
me if i am wrong). there are both 2-letter and 3-letter codes,
although 2-letter seems used more frequently.

3. as to posting articles:
as i understand it, this mailing list is for an informal discussion,
not the formal channel for ISO or any other standards.
of course, there should be formal positions of nations/organizations
at the ISO meetings. however, it will be a good idea that we express
personal/individual opinions here before such a formal meeting.
(in the extreme cases, the formal positions may be different from
those of the general public, which i hope does not occur.)
