FROM: Tom Plum, Convener, SC22/WG21

SUBJECT: Request for SC22 Confirmation of Previous Direction

In view of the number of new features in CD 9899 (C language - C9X) which
are orthogona to the C++ language features, WG21 requests that JTC 1/SC22
affirm its previous direction that WG21 will not necessarily be required
to adopt C9X features in future revisions of the C++ IS.

It is further requested that this affirmation be an agenda item for the
August 1998 JTC 1/SC22 Plenary in Charlottenlund, Denmark.
