United States Contribution on the Java Programming Language

The standardization of the Java programming language falls
within the scope of JTC1 SC22. There is widespread
commercial interest in this language. Therefore, the US proposes
that an Ad-Hoc on Standardization of Java be held at the
upcoming London SC22 Plenary, to discuss further steps.

The Ad Hoc should consider the following topics:

Current Java-related standardization activities

What could be standardized ? byte code, language, class libraries ?

How should the work be progressed ? existing WG, new WG, other ?

Issues or impediments to standardization

Further SC22 steps
