Title: Response to SC22 on the future of WG20

Date: 2000-10-30

Source: WG20

Status: APPROVED

Reference: SC22 N3178 resolution 00-08

WG20 offers the following response to resolution 00-08 from the SC22 plenary
in Nara:

WG20 does not have a consensus to discontinue its work nor to disband the
committee.

If WG20 continues to exist, there is consensus that none of its current
projects be moved to other working groups or subcommittees.

The progression of the individual projects is foreseen to be:

Work on Amendment No.1 of ISO/IEC 14651 should be continued.

ISO/IEC 14652 should be published as a TR. There is no consensus on future
development of ISO/IEC 14652.

ISO/IEC 11017 is OK - there are no plans for revising that TR.

The revision of ISO/IEC 15897 should be completed.

Annex A of ISO/IEC TR 10176 should be reviewed in light of amendments to
ISO/IEC 10646, and possibly be changed if requested by SC22.

ISO/IEC 15435 API - There is no consensus on progressing this standard.

WG20 does not anticipate much work for WG20 to result from the CLAUI
recommendations in N788 (JTC1 N6336).

End of document.
