ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC22/Java SG ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC22/Java SG N 3-5 DATE: 1998-10-13 REPLACES: N/A DOC TYPE: Plain DOS Text TITLE: Multiple conformance of Java standards SOURCE: Japan (Akio Kido) PROJECT: N/A STATUS: This document is circulated to National Bodies of JTC 1/SC22/Java SG for review and consideration at the October 1998 SC22/Java SG meeting in Tokyo. ACTION ID: FYI DUE DATE: DISTRIBUTION: P and L Members MEDIUM: DISKETTE NO.: NO. OF PAGES: 1 Text of contribution: The national body of Japan believes that the Java standards that will be submitted from SMI by using PAS procedure should be multiple parts or should specify multiple conformance levels in order to meet different requirements from classes of applications. For example, real-time application may require Java thread control extensions that may be unacceptable from the view point of optimization of Java codes, and full set of Java classes may be too tough for embedded Java processor or pervasive computers that hardware resources are quite restricted.
